"Lewis' music is smooth, seeped in jazz and [roots] Rhythm and Blues... Lewis' voice washes warmly over top and is no doubt sincere in its sentiments. ' Think they have us running/ but we're not going to hide,' he sings, ' The sword of truth, yeah, will surely cut through their lies/ we can conquer opression, paint a rainbow of truth in their sky.' For most of us it takes a musical context to believe in anything so naievely hopeful as love and peace. Music is one of the artistic forms that provide an immediate antidote to a culture and community wrapped in fear.I thought this was the age of conciousness,' Lewis says, ' but I've never seen so much fear in America.' The musician, who speaks in a soothing baritone voice and shakes a head full of thick dreads, takes comfort in nearby Seaside Park in Bridgeport, which he says ' has been my solace for years.' "

"Many have tried to pair reggae with rock but few have succeeded as well as Mutti Lewis on Love Will survive (Gravity Bridge Records). He does it pretty much thae way Bob Marley did, by leaving the bass up high in the mix and putting a screaming electric lead right next to it on the breaks. Lewis is a talented singer and songwriter, quite capable of penning a song that would work outside of reggae as well as in ( All We've Got Is Now," "Breaking All The Rules of Love" and "I'm Only Guilty of Being Innocent" could have appeared as easily on a country album) but he is naturally inclined to play a style of reggae those familiar with InnerCircle or even the 80's rock /reggae hit "L.A.P.D." would recognize ina a flash. He gets serious on "September 11," shares his observations of life on "The Straw" and "Pie in the Sky" and gets personal on "Don't Go Mrs Jones" and "Mothers in Law". He is at his best when the feel is loose and the music flows as it does on "Loves Promises" and "Where is the Love" ..."
